Fatal train collision halts service on Czech line between Čerčany and Benešov

A passenger train struck and killed a person near Mrače on the Benešov line, prompting a suspension of traffic between Čerčany and Benešov.

Around 09:00 on Sunday, a passenger train hit a person near Mrače, resulting in a fatality. Police spokesperson Michaela Richterová said the train carried about 250 passengers, none of whom were injured. The line between Čerčany and Benešov has been closed, with bus replacements arranged until the service can resume. Investigators are on site, and the driver failed an alcohol breath test. The suspension is expected to last until at least noon, according to Czech Railways.
