Father accused of killing wife and two priests dies after seven-hour standoff

In Shambhuganj village, Azamgarh, a violent incident began when Arvind Singh reportedly opened fire on priests and his wife during a ceremony meant to honor his late brother. After the triple homicide, Singh locked himself inside his home with his three children, prompting a prolonged police operation that lasted almost seven hours. Negotiators, including senior officers and an ATS commando team, attempted to persuade him to surrender, but he demanded the police leave and threatened to resolve the matter the next morning.
When a gunshot was heard from inside, police deployed stun and tear-gas grenades, breached the door, and engaged Singh, who fired six rounds from his revolver. The exchange resulted in Singh's death, his son Shaurya's critical injury and subsequent death, while his daughters Pari and Saanvi were rescued unharmed and later given to family members. No officers were injured, and forensic teams collected evidence for post-mortem examinations.
