Father and friend of Pierre-Alain Cottineau sentenced for hindering police probe
A father and a close friend of suspect Pierre-Alain Cottineau were convicted for obstructing the investigation into alleged child sexual assaults.
A father and a close confidante of Pierre-Alain Cottineau were brought before the correctional court in Nantes on charges of potentially obstructing a police investigation into multiple alleged rapes of minors. The friend, described as one of the suspect's best friends, reached out to Cottineau shortly before his arrest, violating a confidentiality directive issued by investigators. She also communicated with Cottineau's father, who, acting on his son's guidance while the latter was in Tunisia, went to the family residence to collect a mobile phone and other equipment.
Both defendants are accused of breaching the investigators' prohibition on contact with the suspect. Their trial follows Cottineau's own arrest at Nantes airport in September 2024.
