Father confesses to killing three sons in Ohio, citing religious motive
Chad Doerman admitted to shooting his three children in June 2023, telling police he acted "for God" during a police interview captured on video.
A police interrogation video shows Chad Doerman, now serving a life term, recounting the June 2023 killings of his three sons outside their Ohio residence. He told investigators he had read the boys Bible verses, called them "the best boys ever," and then used a rifle from his safe to execute them sequentially, even pursuing one who initially fled. The shooting also wounded his ex-wife, Laura, who alerted authorities while shouting that her babies had been shot, and prompted a stepdaughter to run down the street screaming that her father was killing everyone.
In the interview, Doerman spoke incoherently about divine testing, sacrifice, and his belief that he was destined for hell. He later entered guilty pleas to three counts of murder and two counts of felonious assault, resulting in a life imprisonment sentence.
