Father in Gujarat kills 5-year-old daughter, stores body in fridge, then hangs himself

In Hadida village, Gujarat, Kishish Dhanak allegedly smothered his 5-year-old daughter, placed her body in a refrigerator and later hanged himself.

Authorities in Hadida village, part of Savarkundla taluka in Gujarat's Amreli district, responded to a report of a death and discovered Kishore Dhanak hanging in a room decorated with balloons and kites. Three suicide notes were found on a cot; one confessed to killing his five-year-old daughter Himanshi, placing her body in a refrigerator, and cited a Rs 7.25 lakh debt from a construction project as the cause. The girl’s corpse was retrieved from the fridge, with tulsi leaves placed in her mouth, a chunri covering her head and a garland around her neck.

Police noted Dhanak had worn gloves and a cloth over his face before the suicide. The investigation is examining whether a recent celebration with the child occurred before the incident.
