Father of deceased Tempi victim accuses authorities of bribery and safety failures
Panos Routsi testified that he was offered money to stop speaking about the Tempi train crash and criticized the lack of railway safety measures.
Panos Routsi returned to the 41st session of the Larissa Criminal Court of Appeals after a health-related hospitalisation. He reiterated his determination to uncover why his son, Dennis, died in the Tempi train disaster and alleged an attempted bribery to silence him, involving a vehicle with tinted windows and a bag of cash. Routsi described the chaotic scene, noting fierce flames, a pungent smell and restrictions on public access to the site.
He accused the state of knowing the railway was unsafe and said he would not have placed his child on the train had he been aware. The father also raised concerns about delayed burial permits and requested state assistance for funeral expenses, expressing frustration over the treatment of victims' families.
