Father praises medical care after hunting-range shooting leaves two dead and one injured

A shooting at a hunting site in Halden killed 72-year-old Bjørn Rune Engebretsen and his 47-year-old son Per-Ove, while a man in his 40s was seriously wounded.

At a hunting event in Halden, Martin Braadland, 29, began shooting, resulting in the deaths of 72-year-old Bjørn Rune Engebretsen and his 47-year-old son Per-Ove. A third participant, a man in his 40s, was critically injured and flown to Ullevål Hospital for treatment. The father of the injured hunter, who wishes to remain anonymous, commended the medical teams from Halden, Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad for their outstanding support.

Braadland has admitted guilt for the two murders but denies attempting to kill the injured man. He was detained for four weeks with restrictions on correspondence and visits while authorities assess his mental state.
