Father sentenced to six months for death threats against school staff in Gironde

A 37-year-old father was brought before a Bordeaux court and handed a six-month custodial sentence after he threatened to kill an assistant and the principal of a college in Eysines, Gironde. Prosecutor Renaud Gaudeul said the man, who has prior convictions for violence in 2020 and 2026, acknowledged shoving the assistant and repeatedly issuing death threats toward both the staff member and the director during a midday intrusion.

He is also charged with contempt and violence against public servants, causing up to eight days of work incapacity for one victim, while his 22-year-old partner, with no prior record, was placed under judicial supervision for forcing entry and insulting staff. Education Minister Edouard Geffray recently stressed that teachers must not live in fear and cited a new decree permitting student transfers when a parent’s behaviour seriously disrupts school operations. The case highlights intensified legal measures to protect school personnel in France.
