Father Slashed with Samurai Sword During Werribee Home Break-in by Two Teens

Gof Sritanaamorn and his wife Maynie Pechwong were sleeping at their Otterway Drive residence in Werribee when two teenagers broke in, slashing Sritanaamorn’s face with a samurai sword while seeking the car keys. After the intruders failed to start the family’s Mazda, they returned to the house asking Sritanaamorn for assistance; he helped start the vehicle before police arrived. A neighbor wielding a baseball bat helped restrain one teen, and police blocked the car and arrested both suspects, one after a brief struggle.

The 15-year-old, who had appeared in the Children’s Court earlier that day, was remanded in custody; the 14-year-old is expected to apply for bail. Sritanaamorn remains in hospital with non-life-threatening facial injuries and is awaiting a CT scan.
