Fauda's Fifth Season Tackles October 7 Tragedy and Its Aftermath
The new Fauna season on Netflix will depict the Oct. 7 attacks and follow the characters two years later, a storyline the creators call their most important work.
In preparation for the fifth season of the Netflix series Fauda, creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff announced that the show will directly address the Oct. 7 attacks, allocating two of its eleven episodes to that day. The narrative then leaps two years ahead, portraying the protagonists haunted by their trauma as they pursue a new threat to Israel. Although the Gaza war continues, the writers deliberately limited on-screen Gaza content, focusing instead on the psychological fallout and moral dilemmas faced by those involved.
Raz emphasized that the aim is for audiences to see the events through the characters’ eyes and understand the human cost of the conflict. Issacharoff described the writing process as a way to channel personal pain into a story that asks difficult questions worldwide. The season, directed by Omri Givon and featuring an ensemble cast including Mélanie Laurent and Hakim Djaziri, will be available globally on Netflix starting Sept. 8.
