FBI adds Indian-born fraud suspect Manjit Bedi to Most Wanted list, offers $150,000 reward

The FBI has added Indian-origin Manjit Singh Bedi to its Most Wanted Fraudsters roster, offering a $150,000 reward for tips that result in his arrest and conviction. Bedi, a naturalized U.S. citizen who operated the Asian Grocery Store in Tacoma, Washington, is accused of a scheme that siphoned at least $600,000 from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program between March 2024 and June 2025 by swiping participants’ EBT cards and handing them cash, while keeping half the money.

After being indicted for wire fraud and SNAP benefits fraud, he was released to appear in court, ordered to surrender his passport and stay in Washington, but instead drove to Canada and later fled to India. A federal arrest warrant was issued by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in May. The FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters list, created in June to publicize individuals accused of defrauding the American public, now contains 12 names, with four previously captured. While the bureau has not confirmed cooperation with Indian authorities, recent U.S.-India law-enforcement collaboration suggests potential joint efforts.
