FBI alerts Argentine police to teen using ChatGPT for school shooting plot
Argentine authorities detained a 15-year-old in Quilmes after the FBI warned that the teenager was using ChatGPT to plan a school massacre in 2027.
A 15-year-old from Quilmes in the Buenos Aires province was taken into custody after the FBI flagged his use of ChatGPT to organize a school shooting slated for early 2027, possibly sooner. Argentine anti-terrorist units traced the suspect through OSINT methods, linking an email address to the AI-assisted messages. Police entered his home at night, confiscating two phones, tactical gloves, a camouflage beanie, two balaclavas and black goggles, though no firearms were found.
The teen had discussed acquiring tactical attire and expressed intent to kill classmates. He and his parents are expected to face a juvenile criminal prosecution shortly, while investigators continue to examine the devices for further evidence. This follows a February FBI-aided bust of two other Argentine teens planning a similar attack.
