FBI brings Most Wanted SNAP fraud suspect Manjit Singh Bedi back from India
Manjit Singh Bedi, a fugitive on the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters list, was extradited to the United States after his arrest in India.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that Manjit Singh Bedi, listed among the agency’s Most Wanted Fraudsters, has been repatriated to the United States following his September arrest in India. Federal investigators allege Bedi orchestrated a scheme from March 2024 to June 2025 that defrauded the SNAP program of at least $600,000 by hijacking EBT cards at his Tacoma grocery store, providing cash instead of eligible food, and pocketing roughly half the benefits.
After an indictment, Bedi fled to Canada before crossing into India, prompting a May 21, 2026 arrest warrant for breaching release conditions. This extradition is the latest in a surge of FBI removals, with 260 extraditions in the past 20 months, a 70% rise over the prior period. Bedi is the sixth suspect seized through the Most Wanted Fraudsters initiative, which also offered a $150,000 reward for information leading to his capture. He now faces prosecution in the United States.
