FBI Detains Dallas Youth Allegedly Plotting ISIS Attack and Rep. Self Assassination
The FBI arrested a Dallas-area juvenile on Oct. 5 for an alleged ISIS-inspired terrorist scheme that also included a plan to kill Rep. Keith Self at a local event.
On Oct. 5, federal agents apprehended a juvenile from the Dallas area for allegedly conspiring with ISIS to carry out a terrorist act. Investigators also uncovered information that the youth may have intended to assassinate Rep. Keith Self, a Republican from Texas’s Third District, with a gun at an event scheduled for Oct. 17. The teenager has been formally charged and is being held pending further proceedings.
Rep. Self, who co-founded the Sharia-Free America Caucus and has introduced multiple bills opposing foreign religious law, denounced the alleged plot as an attack on the nation’s constitutional foundations. This arrest comes after the FBI’s recent seizure of Jessica Bowie in Albany for a planned bombing of the New York State Capitol and recalls earlier cases such as Christopher Lee Cornell’s 2015 Capitol attack scheme. Law enforcement officials emphasized the ongoing threat posed by ISIS-inspired individuals targeting U.S. officials and institutions.
