FBI Executes Search of Eric Swalwell at San Francisco Airport

Surveillance cameras captured Eric Swalwell, wearing a hat and black sweatshirt, interacting with several FBI agents at his flight gate in San Francisco International Airport on Aug. 15. He was then escorted, backpack in tow, through an escalator into a restricted hallway and a room where agents served a search warrant at roughly 8:25 p.m. The inventory listed a white Apple iPhone with its charger and a MacBook Pro, all of which were taken.

No arrest was made, and Swalwell was allowed to depart the airport after the search. The following day, agents executed further warrants at his home in Washington, D.C., seizing additional items. The warrant referenced a federal civil-rights law that can be used against officials who abuse power, suggesting investigators suspect Swalwell of using his position to suppress women alleging sexual misconduct. The Department of Justice opened the probe in April after multiple accusations led Swalwell to withdraw from the California governor's race and resign from Congress.
