FBI finds shooter used Bob Dole alias and Amazon parts in Trump attack

Attorney General Todd Blanche said the FBI uncovered that the 2024 Trump assassination shooter ordered packages under the name of the late senator Bob Dole and bought rifle parts on Amazon before being killed by a Secret Service sniper.

During a White House press conference, Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that the FBI has obtained fresh documentation on the individual who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, in 2024. The records reveal the gunman ordered deliveries using the late Republican senator Bob Dole's name as an alias and sourced rifle-capacity-enhancing parts and tools from Amazon. He fired eight rounds, one of which brushed Trump's ear, another killed a bystander and injured two others, before being neutralized by a Secret Service sniper.

An unidentified donor subsequently covered the cost of his cremation, a detail that surprised his relatives. Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the attack, and the Justice Department and FBI have not provided further comment. The disclosures follow Trump's social-media claim that the incident was a "Democrat plot" and his criticism of former FBI Director Christopher Wray.
