FBI reports more than 4,000 arrests in latest phase of Operation Summer Heat

The Federal Bureau of Investigation disclosed that its ongoing Operation Summer Heat has yielded over 4,000 arrests and 1,500 indictments in just the last two months, marking a significant surge in the second year of the initiative. Among those taken into custody are three members of the Mexican mafia who were convicted of murder in 2023, as well as an individual affiliated with the Houston street gang Rich Kings. Law-enforcement officials also reported confiscating more than 2,500 weapons and approximately 3,300 kilograms of cocaine during the same period.

The agency emphasized that agents, intelligence analysts, and support staff nationwide remain dedicated to confronting the most serious criminal threats. This update follows a prior announcement that the FBI had arrested over 6,600 people in Washington, D.C. over the previous year under its Safe and Beautiful program. The bureau’s statements were posted on its official X account.
