FBI's cellular tracking tech rescues infant and teen in under 24 hours
The FBI employed its Cellular Analysis Survey Team to locate a kidnapped six-month-old and a assaulted 16-year-old, rescuing both within a day and arresting the suspects.
FBI personnel applied the Cellular Analysis Survey Team's phone-tracking technology to aid local law enforcement in two distinct cases. In Indiana, West Lafayette police reported a babysitter's kidnapping of a six-month-old; FBI Indianapolis traced the child and caregiver to Louisville, where Louisville Metro Police detained 22-year-old Jasmine O’Sullivan, who now faces a federal kidnapping charge. In Colorado, after a 28-year-old forced entry and sexual assault of a 16-year-old, FBI Denver's Colorado Springs Resident Agency used CAST to follow the phones of both victim and suspect, enabling El Paso County deputies to recover the teen and arrest Jacob Anderson on aggravated robbery, menacing, assault and sexual assault charges. Director Kash Patel said the operations showcase the effectiveness of the newly established Director’s Strategic Information Center, which can deliver critical intelligence within minutes, improving rapid response to emergencies.
