FBI's Summer Heat 2.0 nets nearly 9,000 arrests and locates over 1,400 children

The FBI's Operation Summer Heat 2.0, running from June 1 to Sept. 20, 2026, resulted in almost 9,000 arrests and the identification of more than 1,400 children in violent-crime cases.

Operation Summer Heat 2.0 marked the FBI’s annual multi-agency crackdown on violent and other serious offenses, spanning from June 1 to September 20, 2026. By uniting federal, state, local and tribal law-enforcement partners, the effort produced 8,927 arrests nationwide. Simultaneously, authorities identified or located 1,410 children involved in or affected by violent-crime investigations.

The operation underscores the FBI’s focus on coordinated, cross-jurisdictional policing. It is the second iteration of the Summer Heat program, designed to disrupt criminal networks and protect vulnerable minors. Officials emphasized the campaign’s breadth, noting its impact on both perpetrators and victims across the country.
