FBI seeks sole-source contract with UFC for mixed-martial-arts agent training
FBI Director Kash Patel is pursuing a one-year sole-source award to the UFC to teach agents mixed-martial-arts techniques.
According to a recently obtained justification, FBI Director Kash Patel wants to award a sole-source contract to the UFC for a one-year training program for federal agents. The bureau claims the UFC is uniquely qualified to deliver instruction in striking, grappling, takedowns, weapon defense, ground control and conditioning, citing market research that found no other vendor capable of providing the full suite of mixed-martial-arts skills.
The FBI says agents must be prepared for a range of attacks, including those that require MMA expertise. Details on the contract’s monetary value were not provided, and the FBI did not immediately comment. The UFC previously hosted a training seminar at its Quantico academy for FBI staff, an effort highlighted by Patel’s praise of UFC President Dana White, a known ally of President Donald Trump.
