FC Bayern and NHL forge multi-year alliance to boost hockey in Germany
FC Bayern and the National Hockey League announced a long-term partnership aimed at growing the NHL’s presence in Germany and expanding Bayern’s brand in North America.
FC Bayern and the National Hockey League have entered a multi-year strategic partnership designed to foster the NHL’s development in Germany while raising Bayern’s profile across North America. The agreement outlines a platform for cross-sport collaboration, community outreach, youth initiatives and shared content creation. Bayern’s marketing board member Rouven Kasper and NHL Business President Keith Wachtel emphasized the synergy between Bayern’s extensive fan base and the NHL’s ambition to expand in a key market.
The partnership launch featured Alphonso Davies alongside German NHL players Leon Draisaitl and JJ Peterka at Säbener Straße. Planned activities range from digital campaigns and co-branded merchandise to street-hockey events in Munich, watch parties, and matchday experiences at the Allianz Arena. Additionally, the NHL will bring more regular-season games to Germany, with Munich hosting two Boston Bruins games in 2027 and Cologne staging two Edmonton Oilers contests, while Düsseldorf will host the 2026 Global Series featuring Ottawa and Chicago.
