FCoEE equips Perlis asnaf students with AI and technology training

The Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence (FCoEE) has been running AI, science and technology workshops for asnaf students in Perlis for almost three years, collaborating with universities such as UniMAP, UKM and UMK. According to Dr Bibi Noraini Mohd Yusof, 407 students have taken part in these programs, which are designed to nurture interest in emerging tech fields. The effort includes exposure workshops where university experts share knowledge, and it has led to increased participation in innovation and robotics competitions, with some students winning awards.

FCoEE executive chairman Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin attended the NEXT-D conference where the initiative was highlighted. The centre intends to keep delivering AI-focused training and to educate parents about the importance of these skills for the national job market, which faces a shortage of tech workers. Support for the program comes from the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) through FCoEE.
