FDA issues Class II recall of over 4 million kids' toothpaste tubes
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a Class II recall of more than four million toothpaste tubes, most of which are marketed to children.
On Oct. 19, the FDA reported a Class II recall affecting over four million toothpaste tubes after identifying CGMP deviations in September. Seventeen products from Ashtel Studios, sold under the Brush Buddies, evo and ARU names, are included, and most are designed for children with novelty packaging such as Barbie bubble-gum flavor or My Little Pony graphics. Authorities have raised concerns that the items may lead to short-term health problems if used.
While the recall targets a large volume of tubes, the agency advises consumers to check their cabinets and discard any affected products. No deaths have been reported, and the recall does not impact other toothpaste brands.
Why it matters
Consumers need to remove potentially unsafe toothpaste from their homes to avoid temporary health risks.
