FDA orders recall of RAPTURE pre-workout powder after detecting illegal stimulant

The FDA has identified the illegal amphetamine derivative DMAA in RAPTURE Preworkout powder and mandated a voluntary recall of the affected lot.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has found that RAPTURE Preworkout powder, manufactured by Leader Formulas of Texas, contains the prohibited stimulant 1,3-dimethylamylamine (DMAA). This amphetamine derivative, once used as a nasal decongestant, is known to constrict blood vessels, elevate blood pressure, and potentially trigger heart attacks, arrhythmias, and seizures. The agency has issued a voluntary recall for lot number 260327-4, which was sold from January 29 2025 through May 25 2026 in three flavors—Rainbow Twist, Electric Lemonade and Berry Mojito—identified by specific UPC codes.

The product is packaged in round plastic containers with red and black lettering and a rhinoceros seal. The FDA urges anyone who purchased the recalled powder to cease use and return it for a full refund, though no injury reports have been received to date. DMAA remains banned in multiple countries and is classified by the FDA as an unsafe food additive.

Why it matters

Consumers need to stop using a popular supplement that contains a banned stimulant linked to serious heart risks.
