Federal government awarded $26.5 billion to NGOs for migrant programs

A report shows the U.S. government granted 1,272 awards totaling $26.5 billion to support illegal migration programs, with $5.2 billion in active contracts.

A new report by DataRepublican.com examined federal allocations for migrant resettlement and Office of Refugee Resettlement awards up to January 2025, revealing 1,272 grants that total $26.5 billion. Of one outlet contracts, $5.2 billion remain active, with $3.4 billion directed toward care for unaccompanied children, $544 million allocated to state support for migrants already in the system, and $1.2 billion for other ORR grants.

The Trump administration has terminated 63 awards, representing $186 million in savings. In September, the White House identified nearly $1 billion in what it called wasteful migrant spending and announced a new initiative to cut such expenditures. The administration also cited $567 million spent by Health and Human Services for non-citizens and other smaller allocations for welfare and education programs.

It reveals how billions of taxpayer dollars are being used for migrant assistance, raising questions about fiscal priorities.
