Luke Gosling has been charged with violating his bail conditions following accusations that he assaulted Northern Territory Administrator David Connolly.
Luke Gosling, the federal representative for the Solomon electorate, faces a new charge for breaching bail after police allege he violated restrictions tied to earlier assault accusations involving Northern Territory Administrator David Connolly. The original assault charges stem from two alleged incidents at a Darwin gathering, one described as a collision and the other involving an elbow strike to Connolly’s rib. In late July, a Darwin Local Court judge modified Gosling’s bail, prohibiting him from coming within 50 metres of Government House and mandating a 48-hour notice before attending any event where the administrator might be present, with a further 15-metre distance requirement if they do meet.
Police reported a breach of these conditions on August 14 and served Gosling with a summons to appear in court on September 30. Gosling’s lawyer, Marty Aust SC, has stated the MP will contest the assault allegations, and both the Prime Minister’s office and Gosling’s office have been contacted for comment.
