Feijóo unveils tax cuts and bureaucracy overhaul for Spain's rural areas
Alberto Núñez Feijóo presented a package of 14 rural reforms in Toledo, focusing on lower taxes and reduced administrative burdens.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo traveled to Toledo to address the rural sector, unveiling 14 measures he will push if his party assumes government. Key points include a €50 monthly self-employment contribution for entrepreneurs under 40, a half-price income-tax rate for the first two years of a new business, and public guarantees covering up to 80% of investment costs. He stressed a commitment to slash bureaucratic red tape by at least 30% and to join other EU states in demanding less regulation.
Feijóo also announced a new Agricultural Tax Law to align taxes with farming cycles and to build financial reserves in good years. To reverse rural depopulation, he proposed zero-tax purchases of primary homes in sparsely populated towns and full exemption from transfer taxes on family business sales. Finally, he called for broader tax relief, including a zero-rate VAT on basic foods and reduced taxes on electricity.
Why it matters
