Felix Auger-Aliassime exits US Open after dizzy spell and four-set loss
The No. 3 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime fell to unseeded Karen Khachanov in four sets after feeling dizzy and faint during the match at the U.S. Open.
In a second-round clash at the U.S. Open, No. 3 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime captured the first set against Karen Khachanov in a 7-6 (5) tiebreak. Shortly after, he reported feeling dizzy, seeing spots, and fearing faintness, symptoms he said he had never experienced before. Despite attempting to push through, his physical state deteriorated, and he lost the following three sets 3-6, 2-6, 3-6.
Khachanov dominated the remainder of the match, breaking Auger-Aliassime’s serve seven times and converting seven of nine break points. The victory marked Khachanov’s second top-10 Grand Slam win, coming four years after his 2022 U.S. Open semifinal run. Auger-Aliassime indicated he will undergo medical testing to determine the cause of his abnormal episode.
