Feminist groups plan street protests against PP and Vox ahead of elections
Feminist organisations will march to denounce the Partido Popular and Vox as the general election approaches, linking the rallies to the International Day against Violence toward Women.
Ahead of the upcoming general election, feminist coalitions such as the Comisión 8M, the Foro de Madrid 25N and the Movimiento Feminista de Madrid are set to hold two street rallies. The events will target the Partido Popular and Vox, accusing them of far-right denialism, institutional abandonment and a rollback of equality measures. Demonstrators will demand more vigorous prosecution of sexual violence, especially against young victims, and propose barring fathers under criminal investigation from visiting their children.
They also seek an abolitionist framework to end prostitution and tighter controls on reproductive-exploitation services like surrogacy and egg donation. Additional grievances include the impact of pornography on youth, the role of the health system in protecting victims, and what they describe as institutional violence linked to abortion-related policies. The protests coincide with calls from Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez for left-wing groups and unions to mobilise against the opposition, while unions have announced a general strike and public universities in Madrid plan walkouts over funding and working conditions.
Why it matters
The protests highlight growing feminist opposition to right-wing parties and could influence voter sentiment in a tight election.
