Fertiliser firm MD released on bail after four-day remand in Kedah fertilizer delay probe

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s Kedah branch has released the managing director of a fertiliser supplier on MACC bail after a four-day remand tied to a delay in delivering Supplementary Compound Fertiliser, known as Baja 3, to rice farmers in the state. The male suspect, described as being in his 30s, must report to the Kedah MACC office each month and attend any further investigations. The case was opened following a complaint from the Malaysian Padi Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) received on Aug 26, which highlighted that the shortage had hampered the needs of growers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area covering roughly 100,000 ha.

Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the suspect’s release and the conditions of his bail. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to determine responsibility for the fertiliser distribution delay. The issue underscores supply-chain challenges for padi cultivation in Kedah.
