Fetterman vows not to oppose McCormick if he runs in 2030 Senate race

Senator John Fetterman announced he will not mount a campaign against Senator Dave McCormick if the Republican decides to run for another term in 2030, emphasizing their personal friendship as the reason. Speaking to one outlet, Fetterman described McCormick as a "great guy" and affirmed he would never act against his friend. This stance marks a shift from the 2024 Senate race, when Fetterman backed Bob Casey and criticized McCormick, even labeling him a Connecticut carpetbagger.

After McCormick won that election, the two senators have worked to move past the rivalry, meeting with their spouses in Pittsburgh and discussing shared goals for Pennsylvania. Fetterman expressed regret at missing Casey, whom he called a dear friend, while looking forward to collaborating with McCormick. Both senators now claim they share the objective of improving the state.
