FIFA outlines $6.3 billion plan to boost soccer development worldwide
FIFA has drafted a proposal to allocate over $3.5 billion from its reserves to support football growth across its 211 member associations.
In a document dated Oct. 14, FIFA said the commercial success of the recent 48-team World Cup will fund a new development program. The plan calls for more than $3.5 billion to be distributed, with each association slated to receive $25 million over four years, up from an earlier $10 million figure. The funding would come from FIFA’s financial reserves and target all member associations, confederations and related stakeholders.
Why it matters
The funding could transform football infrastructure and programs in every FIFA member nation.
