Filmhub partners with UnderCurrent to broaden digital creators' streaming reach
Filmhub has sealed a deal with talent manager UnderCurrent to help its roster of online creators place content on VOD services and negotiate film and TV agreements.
Filmhub announced a strategic partnership with talent-management firm UnderCurrent to extend the distribution options for digital creators. Under the pact, Filmhub works solely with UnderCurrent-represented talent—among them Kelsi Davies, who reaches 3.2 million YouTube followers with paranormal content, Jimmy Here, a reaction-style comedian with nearly 2 million fans, and Nexpo, a horror documentary producer close to 4 million subscribers.
The company will help these creators license their back-catalogues to ad-supported services like Roku’s FAST channel and Tubi, and will guide them through contract negotiations for original film and television projects. CEO Alan d’Escragnolle highlighted the shift of advertising-based platforms into homes for creator material and stressed Filmhub’s focus on retaining creators’ IP without demanding exclusive, long-term rights. Creators expressed optimism that the deal could revive content that otherwise fades from YouTube’s algorithm and open new brand-integration opportunities on streaming services.
Why it matters
The deal shows how traditional distributors are adapting to the growing creator economy and could broaden streaming options for online audiences.
