Finance Minister confirms Danantara dividends excluded from 2026 and 2027 budgets
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said the sovereign investment agency Danantara will not deliver dividend revenue to Indonesia's state budgets for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara announced that the sovereign investment agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) will not provide dividend income to the Indonesian state treasury for the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years. In a press briefing in Jakarta, he noted that the expected payouts were not included in the revenue forecasts for either budget cycle, countering prior statements by former finance official Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa about a Rp120 trillion contribution.
Historically, state-owned enterprise dividends averaged around Rp90 trillion annually, but the new asset-management structure shifts focus toward using Danantara's assets to drive domestic economic activity, forge private-sector partnerships, and generate jobs. The minister stressed that the agency's impact should be judged by its investment outcomes rather than immediate cash transfers to the budget. He concluded that leveraging Danantara's resources aims to solve societal challenges and improve welfare for the Indonesian people.
Why it matters
It signals a shift from using sovereign fund dividends as budget support to focusing on long-term economic investment.
