Finance Minister Kármán Names Zoltán Sólyom as New CEO of State-Owned Szerencsejáték Zrt.
Finance Minister Kármán András announced that Zoltán Sólyom will lead Szerencsejáték Zrt. as its new chief executive.
Finance Minister Kármán András revealed that Zoltán Sólyom has been appointed chief executive of Szerencsejáték Zrt., replacing the previous manager who was removed in the summer. Kármán criticized the lottery for becoming a de facto payout point for the National Employment Service and for directing billions of taxpayer funds to companies associated with Rogán Antal, Habony Árpád and Szijjártó Péter. He said the new leadership must end these practices and make the state enterprise more transparent.
Sólyom, who founded an insurance-consulting company about thirty years ago, brings extensive experience from senior roles in various financial and insurance firms. He has been a member of the supervisory boards of both Szerencsejáték Zrt. and Corvinus Nemzetközi Befektetési Zrt. since August, and Kármán expressed confidence in his ability to modernise the company.
Why it matters
The appointment aims to curb opaque financial flows and improve oversight of a major state-owned lottery.
