Finance Minister Marterbauer Defers Any Move on SPÖ Leadership
Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer said he will not contemplate taking over the SPÖ chairmanship for now, focusing on his health and ministerial duties.
In an interview on Ö1’s “Morgenjournal,” Markus Marterbauer confirmed he has no plans to assume the SPÖ party leadership at this time. He reminded listeners that he has pledged to become vice-chancellor at the start of the new year, a role he will take after completing his cancer treatment and handling his finance portfolio. Marterbauer emphasized his loyalty to current party chair and vice-chancellor Andreas Babler, who originally recruited him into politics. He declined to comment on whether he will retain his ministerial post beyond the transition.
