Finance Ministry does not disclose commission details for REN stake purchase
The Finance Ministry has not clarified the commissions tied to the state's acquisition of a share in REN, according to documents submitted to the Court of Auditors.
The state acquired a stake in the energy company REN from Pontegadea Inversiones, with the Finance Ministry noting that the transaction cost was lower than the financing granted by the state-owned Parpública. Despite this, the ministry did not provide details on the commissions that the agreement required to be paid. The omission was identified in documentation the government forwarded to the Tribunal de Contas for review.
Critics argue that the lack of transparency hampers accountability for public funds used in the purchase. The issue underscores ongoing concerns about the clarity of financial arrangements in state-led investments.
