Finance Ministry files criminal complaint over former minister's overseas trips
Hungary's Finance Ministry lodged a criminal complaint against former minister Nagy Márton for alleged misuse of public funds during several foreign trips, including repeated stays at a luxury hotel.
Hungary's Finance Ministry has initiated a criminal complaint against former minister Nagy Márton, alleging irregularities in his foreign travel expenses. The allegation, publicized by ministry spokesperson Kármán András, covers both Nagy’s individual trips and those of delegations from the National Economy Ministry. Authorities claim there is credible suspicion of mishandling public money, budgetary fraud and wasteful official conduct.
A highlighted case involves a chartered flight to Brussels that also covered a brief Brugge-Brussels segment, which officials argue could have been done by car. The ministry points out that Nagy stayed three times within six months at the same five-star hotel without an official justification for being in the city. The complaint seeks to investigate these expenditures and determine whether they constitute criminal misuse of state resources.
