Finland enjoys sunny start to week before clouds and rain arrive later
Meteorologist Joonas Koskela says most of Finland will have clear, mild weather early this week, with a shift to cloudier and wetter conditions by Thursday.
According to Foreca meteorologist Joonas Koskela, a slow-moving high pressure will dominate southern Finland early in the week, delivering mostly sunny skies and mild daytime temperatures, while nights remain chilly with possible frost in central and some southern areas. Monday night may see temperatures dip just below zero, and early morning frost could appear in the central region. The northern parts will experience variable cloudiness and a narrow band of rain moving east across northern Lapland, with strong gusts in the far north.
Tuesday will be slightly milder, especially in the north where winds subside and temperatures stay above freezing. By Wednesday, frost will be most widespread in central Finland and the Käsivarren area, but overall conditions stay mostly clear. The first scattered showers could arrive from the south on Wednesday, and from Thursday the forecast turns noticeably wetter and cloudier, with warmer daytime highs above 10 °C in the south and diminishing night frosts even in Lapland.
