Finland to build NATO-critical TNT production plant with U.S. backing

Finland held a cornerstone ceremony for a new TNT factory in Noormarkku, with the United States supporting the project.

A cornerstone-laying event for a TNT production plant was held on Tuesday in Noormarkku, a district of Pori. Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen said the United States will provide financial support for the facility, underscoring deep defence cooperation between the two countries. The plant aims to meet critical ammunition needs of Finland and NATO, while also enabling sustained assistance to Ukraine. Oy Forcit Ab has been tasked with building and running the factory. Häkkänen noted that talks with other allies about joining the project are ongoing, highlighting the broader strategic significance of the initiative.
