Finland to launch mobile emergency alert system on 1 November 2026
Finland will roll out a new FI-Alert system on 1 November 2026 that sends emergency warnings straight to mobile phones in affected areas.
The Finnish government plans to activate FI-Alert, a mobile-based warning service, at the start of November 2026. The system will broadcast urgent alerts through cellular networks to people located in zones experiencing emergencies. The change follows recent amendments to the Act on Emergency Warnings, which were submitted for final approval on 15 October. Officials say the reform aims to speed up public safety communications.
