Finnish fashion label Onar Studios faces bankruptcy filing
A bankruptcy petition was lodged against Onar Studios oy in Helsinki District Court on 13 October 2026.
Onar Studios oy, a Finnish apparel company established in 2014, has had a bankruptcy petition filed with the Helsinki District Court on 13 October 2026 by Finsta Asianajotoimisto oy. The firm has been struggling financially for an extended period, having applied for corporate restructuring in the spring of 2022, with a restructuring plan confirmed in March 2023. Earlier, the Competition and Consumer Authority warned consumers in August about delivery problems, noting dozens of complaints and unpaid orders.
The authority advised customers to cancel orders in writing and seek refunds through their payment providers. Onar Studios currently has 43 payment default entries ranging from modest sums to larger amounts, involving debt collectors, the Tax Administration and the pension insurer Veritas. The court has not yet made a decision on the bankruptcy filing, and the company's CEO, Irene Kostas, did not respond to inquiries.
Why it matters
The filing could affect thousands of pending orders and highlight consumer-protection challenges in Finland.
