Finnish Parliament to consider installing security systems in all MPs' homes

A parliamentary security working group will meet next week to discuss new protective measures for the residences of all members of the Eduskunta.

The Eduskunta's comprehensive security working group is scheduled to gather next Wednesday to evaluate additional protective arrangements for the homes of all Finnish parliamentarians. Deputy speaker Paula Risikko, who leads the task force, said the meeting will identify any outstanding steps required to enhance safety. Delegates from each parliamentary faction will be present, and the agenda includes a review of security technologies that could be deployed in members' residences, as well as a proposal to standardize security instructions across parties.

So far, no concrete choices on equipment have been finalized. Recent reports indicate more than 20 suspected break-ins, primarily targeting secondary apartments in Helsinki, prompting the heightened focus on home security.
