Finnish President Alexander Stubb told Elon Musk that expanding Starlink’s satellite internet reach is crucial for Ukraine to strike ballistic missile launchers situated in occupied regions and within Russia itself. Stubb highlighted that Ukraine’s air-defence capabilities are dwindling ahead of winter, making additional tools like Starlink potentially life-saving. He outlined three winter priorities for Kyiv: more air-defence systems, reliable energy supplies, and financial support.
The request echoes earlier appeals by former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who said Musk had responded positively but noted the final call rests with the White House. Stubb said Finland is preparing a winter aid package, acknowledging that the conflict is unlikely to end before the season changes.
