Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo lands in Ukraine to reaffirm support amid war
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo arrived in Ukraine on Thursday to demonstrate Finland’s strong backing as the conflict continues and winter approaches.
Orpo’s visit, announced by the government office, aims to underline Finland’s commitment to Ukraine during a critical phase of the war. The trip follows a week of high-level talks across Europe, including meetings between President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, President Alexander Stubb, Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støren and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo. Earlier, Witkoff spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Orpo has previously traveled to Kyiv twice as prime minister, in August 2023 and May 2025.
