Fire at Canadian Natural's Hussar Gas Plant Near Strathmore Prompted Emergency Response
A blaze erupted early Friday at CNRL's Hussar gas plant east of Strathmore and has been contained, with emergency crews still on site.
The fire started around 5:45 a.m. at Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.’s Hussar Gas Plant, roughly 40 km east of Strathmore, Alberta. Responders brought the blaze under control but remain at the location. One individual was air-lifted by STARs in critical condition, according to Emergency Health Services. Company spokesperson Julie Woo emphasized employee, stakeholder and environmental safety as top priorities and said a detailed statement will follow.
