Fire breaks out in Chonos, Lasithi, prompting large-scale firefighting effort
A blaze erupted on Sunday midday in the low-vegetation area of Chonos, Lasithi, Crete, prompting a response from dozens of firefighters and aerial units.
The fire started in the Chonos region of Lasithi on Crete during the afternoon. Authorities deployed 31 firefighters, two mountain-rescue teams from the 3rd EMODE, nine fire engines and two helicopters. Local municipal water supplies also assisted in the operation. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
