A fire that broke out on Friday before 16:00 at the Ekologie s.r.o. site in Rynholc engulfed a hall used for plastic processing, prompting a response from more than 100 firefighters and a third-level alarm. The emergency services contained the flames before midnight, and the alarm level was reduced overnight. The hall was officially handed over to the owner on Sunday with a 24-hour supervision protocol, and fire crews will revisit the site on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning with thermal cameras to ensure no hidden embers remain.
The investigation into the fire’s origin is being conducted jointly by firefighters, police and specialists from the Technical Institute of Fire Protection. No hazardous air levels were detected, and earlier suspicions of arson have been dismissed, with sun-induced spontaneous combustion considered the likely cause. Damage is high due to destroyed plastic-processing equipment.
