Fire in Amravati hospital NICU kills three newborns, others evacuated

A blaze erupted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Amravati District Women's Hospital early Monday, resulting in the deaths of three infants.

Around 3:30 a.m., a fire broke out in the NICU on the third floor of the Amravati District Women's Hospital after a ventilator exploded. At the time, 39 newborns were receiving care in the unit. Hospital staff quickly moved the babies to safety, and six were transferred to a super-speciality hospital for further treatment. The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire remains under investigation.
