Fire on Bangkok Blue Line forces full MRT shutdown and passenger evacuation

Around midday on Sunday, a fire broke out on the elevated section of Bangkok's MRT Blue Line close to Tao Poon station in the Bang Sue district. Sparks fell onto the roadway, and a large plume of smoke rose, leading authorities to evacuate the station and suspend service across the entire line. Firefighters arrived quickly, using a large ventilation fan to clear smoke, and the blaze was contained without any reported injuries.
Police identified an overheated electrical control cabinet as the likely source of a short circuit that triggered the fire. Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc cut power to the tracks, causing delays of roughly an hour at several stations and halting trains between Tao Poon and Bang O. Inspectors from police, the metro operator, and fire services examined the damage and the power-cut system to determine the exact cause.
